Sunday ride video

Quite pleased with this one, the improving light levels and getting out a bit earlier made a big difference.

Caydale Mill Ford

This an unusual long ford maybe 40 metres where the stream runs along the road, which is surfaced with concrete.
Today it was about a foot deep which is unusual as often it is more like a couple of inches even in winter.

First biking Drift Ghost footage

I had the microphone and camera mount already to go for about a week now but the weather had been really poor on days I wasn't committed to something else so this is the first helmet mount run with the Ghost.

All seems very good at first go which is surprising.
The sound quality is almost unbelievable from a tiny mic in the helmet chin piece, and quality of video in rather low light (just after sunset) can hardly be faulted in the original, you do need to look at 1080p to see it anything near as good on youtube though.

Stokesley Road Video

Took the Drift Ghost to Stokesley - with simple velcro mount on passenger headrest.
The original footage is gobsmackingly good but still not 100% happy with the rendering for youtube.
Some stuff online looks better but must take into consideration car vibration, looking through dirty windows and low light levels.

This is a standard youtube settings from Adobe Premier which even at 1080p gives a size much smaller than the 'best' settings recommended by some places online.
In fact the 1080p version is less than half the size of even a 720p version done at some recommended settings.

The camera battery life seems excellent with the indicator suggesting only 1/3 used after 45 minutes recording.
They do claim up to three hours which might be achievable,
Hardly dented the 32GB card with that too.

Drift Ghost HD

A new addition to the camera stable has arrived today - the Drift Ghost HD
Although light levels were too low to test properly outside by the time I had it unpacked, a quick silly test shot of the dog etc was very encouraging and I think I have worked out good encoding for youtube too (will need tweaking..!)
But a further surprise was how good the stills are from it.
To be fair I reduced the noise in lightroom but it really was very good to start with and in particular note the shadow detail despite the lamp in shot.
I wasn't even meaning to take this, it was on the table and I was playing with the remote and phone app.
Impressive thing and not that expensive as the Ghost S came out in November, these are just over £200 with discount code.

I was finding playing with the Roadhawk rather fun but getting frustrated with its odd behaviour such as turning off inexplicably even when connected to vehicle power, and limited battery life on a helmet.

Another nice feature is the drift will fit standard camera tripod screw so many options there for mounting.
